Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Selma: Prepare for High Winds, Flooding
Selma is under a Tropical Storm Warning with immediate action required due to expected hazardous winds up to 65 mph and significant flooding rain from Friday evening through Saturday morning.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Selma, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL. Residents should prepare for hazardous wind and significant flooding rain.
Tropical Storm force winds, with peak gusts up to 65 mph, are expected from Friday evening until Saturday morning. The NWS advises completing all property protection efforts as soon as possible and moving to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Potential impacts include damage to unsecured structures, broken tree limbs, some downed trees, and scattered power outages.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 2-4 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate rainfall flooding is anticipated, which may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries could quickly swell, and floodwaters may enter some structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life.
