Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Dallas; Prepare for Dangerous Winds, Flooding

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Dallas, especially Selma, by the National Weather Service, with dangerous winds and significant flooding expected from Friday evening through Saturday afternoon.

Dallas residents, particularly those in Selma, are urged to complete all preparations immediately as a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued. The National Weather Service in Birmingham, AL, issued the warning today, October 8, at 7:10 PM CDT, effective until October 9, 2026, 3:15 AM UTC.

Dangerous tropical storm force winds of 30-40 mph, with gusts up to 65 mph, are expected from Friday evening until Saturday afternoon. These winds could cause significant damage to roofing, siding, porches, awnings, and carports. Unanchored mobile and manufactured homes are particularly vulnerable. Expect downed trees, impassable roads due to debris, and scattered power outages. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 2-4 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. This could lead to moderate flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may swell, and small streams could overflow. Flooding may impact structures and make driving hazardous. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life. Tornadoes are not expected at this time. For more information, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
