DALLAS COUNTY, AL – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Dallas County, including Selma, effective immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, issued the warning at 1:19 AM CDT on October 9, 2026. Residents should finalize all preparations as soon as possible.

Severe winds are expected, with peak forecasts of 35-45 mph and gusts up to 65 mph. These tropical storm-force winds are anticipated from this evening until Saturday morning. Potential impacts include damage to lightweight structures, numerous broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions are expected, especially on elevated roadways.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 2-4 inches of rain predicted, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate rainfall flooding is likely, which could prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers and streams may overflow, and low-lying areas could experience significant inundation. Driving conditions will become hazardous due to flooded streets.

The NWS advises moving to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. While tornadoes are not expected at this time, residents should remain informed of the latest forecasts. For more information, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
