Sebastian City Offers Video Inspections for Permits

Sebastian residents and contractors can now use video inspections for specific building permit types, a new option the city introduced Sept. 19, 2026, to streamline inspections for occupied buildings.

The service applies to projects such as air conditioning replacement, window and door replacement, electrical panel changeouts, and plumbing line replacements. Contractors can submit inspection documentation remotely by recording video footage and uploading it through the MGOConnect platform.

Strict protocols ensure video inspection validity. Recordings must start at the street, clearly showing the building's address number. The footage must be a continuous, uninterrupted recording. While inside, the camera should point at the floor when moving between locations.

Videos must capture all required points of view for a thorough inspection, including detailed shots of equipment, attachments, labels, breakers, wire sizes, grounding and bonding, fastener spacing and types, and fittings, as applicable to the permit. Failure to follow these protocols will result in video inspection rejection and a rescheduled onsite re-inspection.

After uploading the video to the issued permit via the MGOConnect document upload portal, contractors must schedule the inspection through the same system. They must ensure they select a video inspection when scheduling.
