DeKalb Ring Bust Nets 14 Arrests, Drugs and Guns Seized
A multi-agency operation in DeKalb County dismantled a significant drug trafficking ring, resulting in 14 arrests and the seizure of drugs, firearms, and other contraband, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office. The suspects, ranging in age from 15 to 43 years old, face numerous felony charges including gun and drug possession, assault, and armed robbery.
The coordinated raid reflects an intensifying law enforcement response to organized crime in metro Atlanta. In recent months, DeKalb County has been the epicenter of multiple major drug busts. In April 2026, U.S. Marshals and local task forces arrested Leonard Campbell on outstanding warrants for conspiracy to produce and distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, uncovering 5.6 pounds of suspected marijuana, 37 grams of suspected cocaine or fentanyl, and two loaded firearms at his residence. Additionally, in September 2025, the DEA reported seizing more than 1,000 pounds of methamphetamine in two separate DeKalb County operations.
Georgia's law enforcement agencies have adopted an aggressive stance against drug trafficking networks. The Georgia Department of Agriculture recently announced the seizure of 120 pounds of marijuana and nearly $4.8 million in illegal hemp products in DeKalb County, targeting wholesalers suspected of distributing marijuana falsely advertised as legal hemp. "The Georgia Department of Agriculture has zero tolerance for those that attempt to sell marijuana falsely advertised as hemp or hemp products that are illegal under Georgia law," Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J. Harper said.
The busts signal a broader enforcement strategy combining federal, state, and local resources. U.S. Marshals, the Georgia State Patrol SWAT Team, and sheriff's deputies continue pursuing suspects connected to organized trafficking operations. Authorities indicate the investigation remains ongoing, with additional charges expected as they work to dismantle distribution networks tied to the Decatur area crime ring.
