Standard Dental Labs, a Florida-based dental products manufacturer, announced Friday it acquired Dunedin-based Dr. Tooth LLC. The deal, effective Friday, nearly doubles the company’s estimated annualized revenue and brings Dr. Tooth’s dental restoration production from China to Sarasota.

The acquisition includes substantially all operating assets of Dr. Tooth LLC, also known as Sheen Dental Laboratory and Hansen Incarnati. Standard Dental Labs, headquartered in Orlando, plans to consolidate Florida dental laboratories around regional production facilities. This move shifts Dr. Tooth’s dental product manufacturing to Standard Dental Labs’ Sarasota operations at 4232 McIntosh Lane.

“Our focus is to bring this work back to Florida and give dentists direct access to the people making their restorations,” said James Brooks, president and chief executive officer of Standard Dental Labs Inc. The company estimates the acquisition adds just over $800,000 in annualized revenue to its existing $822,000, bringing the combined total to more than $1.6 million in estimated operating activity over 12 months.

Dr. Tooth’s management team, Denis Thaxton and Gavin White, will continue with the operation. Standard Dental Labs management expects to grow the acquired business to over $1.1 million in annualized revenue by retaining current accounts, recovering former customers, and transitioning production.

“We are adding an established customer base to our Sarasota operation, where the additional production can improve the economics of the facility,” Brooks said. “We also see a clear opportunity to win back business by giving customers the domestic production and responsive service they want.”
