Sarasota County Recognizes Problem-Solving Courts in May

Sarasota County commissioners acknowledged the work of Problem-Solving Courts during their May 19 meeting. This recognition coincided with statewide observations of Problem-Solving Court Month and Opioid and Stimulant Awareness and Recovery Month.

The commissioners' recognition highlighted the dedication of the courts' staff. These courts address underlying issues contributing to criminal behavior by offering rehabilitation and community safety alternatives to incarceration.

The Sarasota recognition followed a similar presentation before the Manatee County Board of Commissioners on May 5. Both events underscored the specialized courts' role in providing recovery pathways and reducing recidivism.

Problem-Solving Courts handle specific offender populations, such as those with substance abuse or mental health issues. They integrate judicial oversight with treatment and support services to improve outcomes for individuals and the community.
