Santa Rosa County Long Range Planning & Future Growth
Santa Rosa County's Long Range Planning division continues its work to shape the county's future, focusing on creating a vision for growth within the local community. This effort centers on the Comprehensive Plan, which provides the framework for managing growth and aims to maintain and improve the quality of life for all county citizens.
The Long Range Planning division carries out several key functions. It provides public information and assistance to residents and stakeholders. The division also administers and implements the Comprehensive Plan, ensuring adherence to its guidelines for development and land use.
A critical aspect of their work involves providing GIS Mapping Services for all elements of Growth Management. This includes maintaining the official Zoning, Existing Land Use, and Future Land Use Maps for Santa Rosa County. These maps are essential tools for understanding current and projected land development.
Additionally, the division is responsible for Special Projects that contribute to the county's long-term development goals. It also provides crucial support to Emergency Service Function 5 (Planning) and Emergency Service Function 2 (Communications), integrating long-term planning with emergency preparedness efforts.
