In addition to operating an animal shelter, NCAS is also responsible for Animal Control within the County. Animal Control Officers respond to calls for service in Nassau County, responding to a wide range of animal-related concerns. Animal Control protects both public safety and animal welfare by enforcing animal-related laws, investigating complaints, and responding to emergencies. Animal Control response includes animal bites, cruelty, and dangerous animals, while also helping to reunite lost pets, provide resources for owners, and ensure the humane treatment of animals.
