Heat Advisory Issued for Bay Area: Stay Hydrated, Limit Outdoor Activity
A Heat Advisory is in effect for the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Coast until 10 PM PDT tonight, with temperatures expected to reach 95-105 degrees; residents should stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activities.
Residents across the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Coast are urged to take precautions as a Heat Advisory is in effect until 10 PM PDT this evening, October 8. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco has issued the advisory due to expected hot conditions, with maximum temperatures reaching the mid-90s to near 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
The advisory impacts a wide region, including the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay Interior Mountains and Valleys, San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys and Hills, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley (including San Jose) and Eastern Hills, Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, and Mountains of San Benito County and Interior Monterey County (including Pinnacles National Park).
This level of heat can affect individuals without adequate cooling or hydration, potentially impacting health systems and heat-sensitive industries. The NWS advises everyone to drink plenty of water and, if possible, provide water to vulnerable individuals. When outdoors, wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. Be aware of symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and take immediate action if they occur.
