Sanibel Touch-A-Truck Event Returns This Saturday

The Sanibel Recreation Center will host its second annual Touch-A-Truck event this Saturday, October 3, 2026. Families can explore more than 20 vehicles and pieces of equipment serving Sanibel and Lee County. The free community event takes place at the Sanibel Recreation Center, 3880 Sanibel Captiva Road.

Attendees will get up close with fire engines, police vehicles, construction equipment, utility trucks, and specialty vehicles. They can also meet the professionals who operate them and learn about their work throughout the community.

A sensory-friendly hour, for those who prefer a quieter environment, runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event opens to the general public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Participating agencies and businesses include the Sanibel Fire Rescue District, Sanibel Police Department, Lee County EMS, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, LCEC, Lee County Mosquito Control District, City of Sanibel Public Works, Lee County Library System’s Mobile Library Bus, Creel Tractor Company, All Superior Auto Works, Mission BBQ, and Lee County Department of Transportation.

The LeeFlight helicopter from Lee Health is scheduled to be on-site exclusively from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., subject to emergency response needs.
