Sandusky $2,000 Paint Grant for Home Exteriors
The City of Sandusky is accepting applications for a pilot program that grants up to $2,000 in paint and supplies to homeowners who paint their home's exterior.
The 2026 Exterior Paint Program covers materials for the main structure, garage, porches, decks, and window and door trim. Homeowners must complete the work themselves or hire a contractor; the grant does not cover labor.
"Beautifying a single home ultimately benefits the block it is on," said Debi Eversole, Housing Development Specialist for the City of Sandusky. "It can cause a ripple effect of investment in the whole neighborhood."
To qualify, applicants must own and occupy the home as their primary residence. The home must be titled to the applicant for at least one year and valued at $260,000 or less according to Erie County Auditor records. Applicants cannot have outstanding delinquencies with the city or state, and the home cannot be in active foreclosure.
All painting work must occur between April 1 and October 31, 2026. Applicants must submit an itemized estimate with their application but should not purchase materials before receiving approval. The city processes applications within two to four weeks.
Information and applications are available at www.cityofsandusky.com/housing. Residents can schedule an appointment with Eversole for help with the application. The paint program runs alongside the city's existing Housing Development & Beautification program, which offers grants for home purchase assistance, exterior repairs, and redevelopment projects.
