Huron Fire Department Gets Second LUCAS 3 CPR Device
The Huron Fire Department purchased a second LUCAS 3 CPR System, placing the mechanical chest compression device at both Station 1 and Station 2. Each frontline ambulance now carries the equipment.
The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation funded the purchase through a Safety Intervention Grant, with Great Lakes Event Works contributing additional funds.
The LUCAS 3 delivers automated chest compressions during cardiac arrest. It maintains consistent compression depth and rate, freeing paramedics to manage airways, administer medications, and transport patients. The device continues compressions during movement, when manual CPR becomes difficult or impossible.
