A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect for coastal North Bay and San Francisco Peninsula until October 12 at 10:00 PM PDT, warning of dangerous rip currents, sneaker waves, and large breaking waves up to 16 feet.
Coastal residents and visitors in the North Bay and San Francisco Peninsula are advised to stay out of the water and off coastal structures due to a Beach Hazards Statement issued by the National Weather Service San Francisco CA.
This Moderate Severity alert is in effect from October 11 at 7:19 AM PDT until October 12 at 10:00 PM PDT. Affected areas include the Coastal North Bay, specifically Point Reyes National Seashore, and the San Francisco Peninsula Coast.
The NWS warns of an increased risk of rip currents and sneaker waves, with breaking waves expected to reach up to 16 feet. These conditions create dangerous hazards along the shoreline, including strong rip currents and large breaking waves.
For your safety, remain out of the water and never turn your back on the ocean. It is crucial to stay off jetties, piers, rocks, and any other waterside infrastructure. Monitor local weather, surf, and tide forecasts at www.weather.gov/mtr for the latest updates.
