Heat Advisory Issued for Bay Area: Take Precautions Until Monday Night
A Heat Advisory is in effect for much of the Bay Area from today, October 3rd, at 11 AM PDT until Monday, October 5th, at 10 PM PDT, with temperatures reaching the mid-90s to low-100s.
A Heat Advisory has been issued for much of the Bay Area, including the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay Interior Mountains and Valleys, San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys and Hills, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley (including San Jose and Eastern Hills), Southern Salinas Valley, Santa Lucia Mountains, Los Padres National Forest, Mountains of San Benito County, Interior Monterey County (including Pinnacles National Park), and the Cholame Hills. The National Weather Service San Francisco has issued this advisory, which is in effect from 11 AM PDT today, October 3rd, until 10 PM PDT on Monday, October 5th.
Hot conditions are expected, with maximum temperatures reaching the mid-90s to low-100s. Overnight relief will be limited due to mild minimum temperatures and weak onshore flow. This level of heat can impact individuals without effective cooling or adequate hydration, potentially affecting health systems, heat-sensitive industries, and infrastructure.
Residents are urged to take immediate precautions. Hydration is critical: drink water, and if possible, provide water to vulnerable individuals. When outside, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. Seek immediate action if you experience symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
