San Luis Police Traffic Enforcement Memorial Day Weekend

The San Luis Police Department will deploy additional officers throughout the city from Friday, May 22 through Monday, May 25 to enforce traffic and DUI laws during Memorial Day weekend.
The state-funded initiative targets seatbelt violations, impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving and pedestrian safety. Officers will rotate through different areas of the city during the four-day period.
"The objective of the traffic enforcement program is to reduce the number of vehicle collisions and the resulting injuries and fatalities through increased highly visible enforcement," Lieutenant Emmanuel Botello said.
San Luis police recommend that drivers allow extra time for travel, stay alert, avoid distractions and ensure all passengers wear seatbelts. Drivers who plan to drink should arrange a sober driver in advance.
Report suspected impaired or reckless driving to the police department at (928) 341-2420 for non-emergency calls or 911 for emergencies. Anonymous tips can be submitted to 78-Crime at (928) 782-7463.
