Per state law, electric assist bikes and standard bicycle riders are not required to have helmets. 3.30.2026As more e-bikes are on our streets this time of year, the North Mankato Police Department reminds everyone to know where e-bikes are allowed, follow traffic laws, and ride at a safe speed.E-bikes are permitted on streets and, depending on the class, on trails and sidewalks. Class 3 e-bikes are not allowed on trails. Riders must be at least 15 years old to operate an e-bike, and helmets are required for riders under age 18.E-scooters are allowed on streets, trails, and sidewalks.
