Heat Advisory Issued for Bay Area: Extreme Temperatures Expected This Weekend
A Heat Advisory has been issued by NWS San Francisco CA for parts of the Bay Area from Saturday, October 3, to Sunday, October 4, with temperatures up to 103 degrees expected.
A Heat Advisory has been issued for numerous Bay Area locations, including the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay Interior Mountains, San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys, Santa Cruz Mountains, and Santa Clara Valley. The advisory is effective from 11 AM PDT on Saturday, October 3, until 10 PM PDT on Sunday, October 4.
The National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco CA predicts temperatures ranging from the mid-90s to near 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight low temperatures are expected to remain high, in the upper 60s to mid-70s in higher elevations, which will limit recovery from the daytime heat.
This heat level poses risks to individuals without effective cooling or adequate hydration. The NWS advises residents to take precautions. Drink plenty of water and wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing. Limit strenuous outdoor activities to the early morning or evening hours. Be aware of the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and seek immediate action if experienced.
Areas specifically under this advisory include the East Bay and San Francisco Bay Shoreline, the Santa Clara Valley and Eastern Hills, Western Sonoma County Hills, the Santa Cruz Mountains, Interior Monterey County and the Santa Lucia Range, most of San Benito County and the Cholame Hills in Southeast Monterey County, North Bay Interior Mountains, and Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio.
