San Francisco, CA – October 3, 2026 – The National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco has issued a Heat Advisory, effective immediately until Sunday, October 4, at 10:00 PM PDT. Residents in affected areas are advised to stay hydrated, limit strenuous activities, and take extra precautions against heat-related illnesses.

The advisory covers San Francisco, the Marin Coastal Range, Northern Salinas Valley/Hollister Valley and Carmel Valley, and Northern Monterey Bay. Hot conditions are expected, with maximum temperatures in the low-80s to low-90s. Mild minimum temperatures and weak onshore flow will limit overnight relief.

This level of heat can affect individuals without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts are likely in some health systems, heat-sensitive industries, and infrastructure.

Actionable information:

  • Hydrate: Drink water frequently. If possible, take water to vulnerable individuals.
  • Precautions: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing. Limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours.
  • Recognize Symptoms: Take action if you experience symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
  • Vehicle Safety: Never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly.

The NWS San Francisco CA issued this advisory to ensure public safety during the expected high temperatures.
