Tropical Storm Watch Issued for San Diego Inland Valleys

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for San Diego County Inland Valleys, including Escondido, El Cajon, Lakeside, and Poway, with hazardous winds and major flooding expected.

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the San Diego County Inland Valleys, effective immediately as of October 10 at 8:05 PM PDT, by the National Weather Service San Diego. This watch includes the communities of Escondido, El Cajon, Lakeside, and Poway. It is set to expire on October 11 at 4:15 AM UTC.

Residents in affected areas should prepare for hazardous winds between 39 to 57 mph. Efforts to protect property should be underway now. Potential impacts include damage to lightweight structures, numerous broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Plan to complete all preparations before winds become hazardous.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 1-2 inches of rain possible, and locally higher amounts. This poses a potential for major flooding. Emergency plans should account for possible evacuations and rescues. Strongly consider protective actions if you are in a flood-vulnerable area. Extensive impacts from flooding could include widespread property damage, impassable roads, and rapidly overflowing rivers and streams. Heed any flood watches and warnings, as failure to act could lead to serious injury or loss of life.

Tornadoes are not expected at this time. For more information and updates, visit sdcountyemergency.com.
