Tropical Storm Watch Issued for San Diego County Mountains
A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for San Diego County Mountains, including Julian and Pine Valley, with hazardous winds and major flooding expected. Residents should prepare for potential evacuations and property damage.
A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the San Diego County Mountains, specifically Julian and Pine Valley, by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA, effective immediately until October 10 at 10:00 PM UTC (3:00 PM PDT).
Residents in affected areas should plan for hazardous wind conditions, with peak gusts up to 50 mph. Complete all property protection efforts as soon as possible and move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Limited damage to structures like awnings and carports, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages are possible.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Emergency plans should account for major flooding from an additional 1-3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts. This level of flooding may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries could overflow, and mountain areas are susceptible to rockslides and mudslides. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.
Tornadoes are not expected. For more information and updates, visit sdcountyemergency.com.
