Residents in the San Diego County Inland Valleys are urged to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego, CA. Dangerously hot conditions, with high temperatures reaching the upper 90s to 103 degrees Fahrenheit, are expected.
The warning is effective immediately, beginning October 4 at 4:28 AM PDT, and will remain in effect until 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8. This heat event also includes warm nights, with low temperatures anticipated to be in the lower to mid 70s.
Heat-related illnesses are a significant concern during extreme heat events. To protect yourself and others, the NWS advises drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, and staying out of the sun. It is also crucial to check up on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable.
Furthermore, never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly, posing severe risks. The affected area specifically includes the San Diego County Valleys.
