An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for San Diego County Coastal Areas by the NWS, effective until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT, with dangerously hot conditions and high risks of heat-related illnesses; residents are advised to stay hydrated, seek cool environments, and check on vulnerable individuals.
Residents in San Diego County Coastal Areas are urged to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA has confirmed dangerously hot conditions are expected, effective immediately until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT.
High temperatures are forecasted to reach the mid-80s to lower 90s along the beaches, escalating to the mid-90s and potentially around 100 degrees Fahrenheit in mesas and higher coastal terrain. Nighttime lows will remain unusually warm, ranging from the upper 60s to mid-70s. This prolonged heat increases the risk of heat-related illnesses.
To protect yourselves and others, the NWS advises drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms, and avoiding direct sun exposure. Check on relatives and neighbors, especially those vulnerable to heat. It is critical to remember that young children and pets should never be left in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can quickly reach lethal temperatures.
