Extreme Heat Warning for San Diego Coastal Areas Through Thursday
An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for San Diego County Coastal Areas until Thursday at 8 PM PDT, with dangerously high temperatures expected to increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
Residents in San Diego County Coastal Areas should prepare for dangerously hot conditions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued, effective immediately until Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 8:00 PM PDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA issued this warning today, October 6, 2026, at 12:33 PM PDT.
High temperatures are expected to range from the mid-80s to lower 90s at the beaches, and mid-90s to around 100 degrees for mesas and other higher coastal terrain. Nighttime lows will also be very warm, staying in the upper 60s to mid-70s. These conditions significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
The NWS advises all residents to take preventative measures: drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and avoid direct sun exposure. Check on relatives and neighbors to ensure their safety. Crucially, never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly.
