A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for San Diego County Coastal Areas, including Oceanside, Carlsbad, Chula Vista, and San Diego, effective immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA issued the watch today, October 10, at 1:54 PM PDT, and it remains in effect until 10:00 PM PDT.

Residents in affected areas should take immediate action to protect property and prepare for hazardous conditions. Winds are forecast to reach 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Secure loose outdoor objects such as awnings, carports, and sheds.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with potential for major flooding from heavy rain, bringing an additional around 1 inch of rainfall. Emergency plans should include the potential for evacuations and rescues. Do not attempt to drive through flooded areas. Coastal areas may experience significant coastal flooding, beach erosion, and dangerous rip currents. Avoid beaches and monitor local official instructions.
