A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the San Diego County Deserts, specifically impacting Borrego Springs, effective immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego issued the watch on October 10 at 8:05 PM PDT, warning of potential hazardous conditions through late Sunday morning.
Residents in Borrego Springs should plan for equivalent Tropical Storm force winds, with peak gusts reaching 25-35 mph and isolated gusts up to 55 mph. Last-minute efforts to protect property should be completed now. Individuals are advised to shelter from hazardous winds immediately.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with additional rainfall amounts of approximately 1 inch expected. The NWS warns of the potential for major flooding rain, which may lead to evacuations and rescues. Emergency plans should account for significant flooding. Heed all flood watches and warnings, as failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.
