Beach Hazards and Coastal Flood Advisory Issued for San Diego and Orange Counties
A Beach Hazards Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory are in effect for San Diego and Orange County coastal areas, warning of dangerous rip currents, high surf up to 6 feet, and minor coastal flooding until Friday evening and Tuesday afternoon, respectively.
Coastal residents and visitors in San Diego and Orange Counties should prepare for hazardous beach conditions and minor coastal flooding. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued a Beach Hazards Statement effective until Friday evening, and a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until 2 PM PDT Tuesday.
For the Beach Hazards Statement, surf of 3 to 5 feet with sets up to 6 feet and dangerous rip currents are expected. The NWS advises remaining out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor coastal flooding is expected during high tides. High tides are anticipated to peak between 6.5 and 7.0 feet during morning and evening hours. This could lead to flooding of beach parking lots, boardwalks, and roads, with isolated road closures possible. Minor coastal erosion is also expected. If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
These advisories affect San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County Coastal Areas.
