A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Las Vegas NV for the Western Mojave Desert, Eastern Mojave Desert (including the Mojave National Preserve), Morongo Basin, Cadiz Basin in California, and the Las Vegas Valley in Nevada.
Residents in these areas should prepare for strong south winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 45 to 55 mph. The advisory is in effect from 4:15 AM PDT on October 11 until 5:00 AM PDT on October 12.
Gusty winds are expected to blow around unsecured objects. There is a possibility of tree limbs being blown down and isolated power outages. The NWS advises that winds of this strength can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Drivers should exercise extra caution.
