Wind Advisory Issued for Mojave Desert and Las Vegas Valley
A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Western and Eastern Mojave Desert, Morongo and Cadiz Basins, and the Las Vegas Valley, with strong winds and gusts up to 55 mph expected from Sunday morning through Monday morning.
Residents in the Western Mojave Desert, Eastern Mojave Desert (including the Mojave National Preserve), Morongo Basin, Cadiz Basin, and the Las Vegas Valley should prepare for strong winds. The National Weather Service (NWS) Las Vegas NV has issued a Wind Advisory effective from 2 AM Sunday, October 11th, until 5 AM PDT Monday, October 12th. The advisory is currently in effect from October 10th at 12:58 PM PDT until October 12th at 5:00 AM PDT.
South winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 45 to 55 mph. These conditions can make driving challenging, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The NWS advises using extra caution if traveling. Gusty winds may also displace unsecured outdoor objects, lead to downed tree limbs, and potentially cause power outages. Secure loose items around your property and be aware of potential hazards.
