Extreme Heat Warning for Inland Empire: Act Now to Stay Safe
An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for the Inland Empire until Thursday, October 8, with dangerously hot temperatures up to 103 degrees and warm nights, prompting residents to take immediate safety precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Residents in the San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys, also known as the Inland Empire, are urged to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued. This warning is effective now, October 5 at 8:55 PM PDT, and will remain in effect until 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8.
The National Weather Service San Diego has issued this alert due to dangerously hot conditions, with anticipated high temperatures ranging from the upper 90s to 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight lows will offer little relief, staying warm in the upper 60s to mid-70s.
Heat-related illnesses significantly increase during extreme heat events. To mitigate risks, residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and remain out of the sun. It is also crucial to check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable.
A critical reminder: Do not leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly, posing an extreme danger. This warning has been issued by NWS San Diego CA.
