Strong Thunderstorm Threatens Tom Green, Concho Counties

A strong thunderstorm with 40 mph wind gusts and pea-sized hail is moving through Tom Green and Concho counties until 3:45 AM CDT. Seek shelter indoors if outdoors.

Residents in parts of Tom Green and Concho counties should be aware of a strong thunderstorm moving through the area. The National Weather Service (NWS) in San Angelo has issued a Special Weather Statement effective until 3:45 AM CDT today, October 1, 2026.

At 3:08 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm near Vancourt, moving northeast at 35 mph. This storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail. These conditions could lead to gusty winds that may knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is also possible.

If you are outdoors in the affected areas, including Mereta, Veribest, Wall, Vancourt, Eola, Vick, and The Intersection Of Ranch Road 380 And Ranch Road 381, seek shelter inside a building immediately. The NWS San Angelo TX issued this statement.
