Salem High School CTE Program Honors 27 Seniors

Salem High School recognized 27 students for academic and technical excellence at its Fourth Annual Career Technical Education Senior Awards Ceremony on May 21 at the M. Ruth Norton Auditorium.

Senior Johan Polanco, an Early Childhood Education and Care student, won the Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators Scholar of the Year award and the Massachusetts Vocational Association Presidential Certificate of Merit. Polanco also received the Angela's Preschool and Daycare Award alongside seniors Pauline Babineau, Jazmine Bouras, Daisy Gomez and Isabella Ortiz Cruz.

The ceremony inducted 27 students into the Salem High School National Technical Honor Society. Dewa Trisna received the inaugural Brendan Balfour Award for outstanding Electrical Technology student. Carlos Polanco Ramirez earned the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 103 Award for Electrical Technology.

Thomas Ferrioli, Mason Potorski, Safiyah Pina-Harding and August Hunter shared the Steve Whittier Memorial Scholarship Award. Sindi Sula and Karly Swiniarski, both inducted into the National Technical Honor Society last year, shared the American Red Cross Scholarship Awards.

Four Beverly High School students participating in Salem's CTE tracks received honors: Colby Flynn and Corey Girard in Automotive Technology, and Vanessa Andre and Mya Harris in Medical Assisting.

Additional award recipients included Jazmine Chavez Rodriguez and Elijah McLellan in Culinary Arts, Gemma Murphy and Amaya Lindor in Graphic Design and Visual Technology, Elizabeth Mahady and Ayden Lacerda in Programming and Web Development, and Dwayne Stavros and Wyatt Millar in Automotive Technology.
