Eckerd College Names Rev. Robert Galloway Spiritual Life Director
Eckerd College named Rev. Robert L. Galloway director of the Center for Spiritual Life and chaplain, effective this summer. Galloway will oversee interfaith programming and spiritual initiatives at the St. Petersburg campus.
Galloway majored in history at Davidson College, where his senior project on the 19th-century Southern Presbyterian Church sparked interest in theology. After graduating in 2009, he worked five years in Washington, D.C., and Charlotte, North Carolina, including roles with the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation and First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. He earned his Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in 2017, where he served as student body moderator.
Before joining Eckerd, Galloway served as pastor of First Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg, where he led community outreach and spiritual programming. He has focused his ministry on young adults exploring questions of identity, faith, and belonging.
The Center for Spiritual Life offers Protestant worship, yoga, Muslim prayer groups, and Buddhist meditation.
