Mark Koonter Appointed Fire Chief in Bath Charter Township

Bath Charter Township's Board of Trustees appointed Mark Koonter as Fire Chief of the Bath Township Fire Department following a special meeting Friday, Sept. 5.

Koonter spent three decades in fire and emergency medical services. He started as a firefighter at Laingsburg Fire Department in 1993 and advanced to Captain before moving to East Lansing Fire Department, where he rose to Deputy Chief. He retired earlier this year. Koonter holds degrees from Michigan State University and the National Fire Academy.
