Residents across Southeastern Arizona are advised to secure outdoor objects immediately as a Wind Advisory is in effect until 11:00 PM MST tonight, October 11, 2026. The National Weather Service (NWS) Tucson AZ issued the advisory at 2:00 PM MST.

South to southwest winds are expected to reach 25 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 45 to 55 mph. The NWS indicates that the strongest wind gusts are likely to occur in proximity to showers and thunderstorms. These conditions can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and drivers are urged to use extra caution.

Areas affected include Western Pima County (including Ajo/Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument), the Tohono O'odham Nation (including Sells), the Upper Santa Cruz River and Altar Valleys (including Nogales), and the Tucson Metro Area (including Tucson/Green Valley/Marana/Vail). The advisory also covers South Central Pinal County (Eloy/Picacho Peak State Park), Southeast Pinal County (Kearny/Mammoth/Oracle), the Upper San Pedro River Valley (Sierra Vista/Benson), and Eastern Cochise County Below 5000 Feet (Douglas/Willcox). Additionally, the Upper Gila River and Aravaipa Valleys (Clifton/Safford), the White Mountains of Graham and Greenlee Counties (Hannagan Meadow), Galiuro and Pinaleno Mountains (Mount Graham), Chiricahua Mountains (Chiricahua National Monument), Dragoon/Mule/Huachuca and Santa Rita Mountains (Bisbee/Canelo Hills/Madera Canyon), Santa Catalina and Rincon Mountains (Mount Lemmon/Summerhaven), and the Baboquivari Mountains (Kitt Peak) are all under the advisory.

Impacts from these strong winds include unsecured objects being blown around, potential downed tree limbs, and isolated power outages. Residents are reminded to secure loose items outdoors and exercise increased vigilance while driving.
