Companies Donate $20K to Sweetser Psychiatric Facility in Saco
Saco & Biddeford Savings and Paquin & Carroll Insurance donated $20,000 to Sweetser's new Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility on the Saco campus, the first of its kind in Maine.
The 16-bed facility will offer secure, 24-hour psychiatric care for youth in therapeutic and group settings. Sweetser plans to open the facility in early 2027. More than 100 Maine children currently await placement in psychiatric residential treatment; many now receive care out of state.
The facility will include outdoor recreation spaces and trauma-informed design. Keeping Maine youth closer to home allows them to maintain contact with families and local support systems.
