Strong Thunderstorm Warning for Russell, Clinton Counties Until 7:45 PM CDT

Residents in Russell and Clinton counties should prepare for a strong thunderstorm with wind gusts up to 50 mph and half-inch size hail, effective immediately until 7:45 PM CDT.

The National Weather Service in Louisville, KY issued a Special Weather Statement at 7:14 PM CDT, indicating that Doppler radar detected a strong thunderstorm near Cumberland City, approximately 10 miles north of Albany, moving east at 10 mph.

Expected impacts include downed tree limbs, unsecured objects being blown around, and minor damage to outdoor items. Locations impacted include Cumberland City, Marlow, Narvel, Rowena, Seventy Six, Cartwright, Nora, Long Bottom, Upchurch, and Snow.

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening conditions. Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning is occurring; seek safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Torrential rainfall may cause flash flooding. Do not drive through flooded roadways.
