Red Flag Warning for Goose Creek Area Expiring, Rain Expected

A Red Flag Warning for the Goose Creek and Raft River Valley has expired, with the National Weather Service predicting significant rainfall and a Flood Watch for much of Southeast Idaho from Saturday at noon through Monday.

GOOSE CREEK, ID – The Red Flag Warning for the Goose Creek and Raft River Valley, Southern Sawtooth National Forest, and Twin Falls BLM south of the Snake River expired today, October 9, 2026, at 8:00 PM MDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pocatello ID issued the update, indicating that relative humidity levels have risen above critical thresholds.

While the Red Flag Warning has ended, elevated winds are expected to continue this evening and especially tomorrow afternoon. Rain is anticipated to begin tomorrow afternoon, becoming widespread Saturday night into Sunday morning. Residents should prepare for significant rainfall, with forecasts predicting 0.50 to 1.50 inches across much of Southeast Idaho from Saturday afternoon through Monday afternoon.

A Flood Watch is in effect for much of Southeast Idaho from Saturday at noon through most of Monday. Residents are advised to monitor weather conditions and local flood advisories from the National Weather Service.
