Day.News – IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED: The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for East Central Chaves County in southeastern New Mexico, effective until 7:30 PM MDT tonight, September 29.
At 6:35 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was detected 20 miles southeast of Hagerman, approximately 42 miles southeast of Roswell. This storm is moving north at 30 mph and is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and small hail. Radar has indicated these hazards.
Residents in the affected rural areas of East Central Chaves County should expect potential damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Seek shelter immediately inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds. Be aware that tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms; if this occurs, seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure.
