Strong Thunderstorms Moving East, Gusts Up to 40 mph Expected
A Special Weather Statement is in effect for multiple counties, with strong thunderstorms bringing wind gusts up to 40 mph and potential flash flooding until 9:00 PM CDT tonight.
Residents in Bee, Inland Nueces, Inland San Patricio, Coastal Aransas, Inland Refugio, Coastal Nueces, Coastal San Patricio, Aransas Islands, Coastal Refugio, and Nueces Islands counties are advised to monitor weather conditions closely as a Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service Corpus Christi TX.
As of 8:10 PM CDT on October 1, 2026, strong thunderstorms were detected by Doppler radar. These storms are tracking from St. Paul to northeast of Annaville, and from north of Sinton to north of Corpus Christi International Airport, moving east at 30 mph.
The primary hazard is wind gusts up to 40 mph. These strong winds could potentially knock down tree limbs and displace unsecured outdoor objects. Locations impacted include Corpus Christi, Portland, Rockport, Sinton, Port Aransas, Taft, Woodsboro, Ingleside, Aransas Pass, Odem, Gregory, St. Paul, Ingleside On The Bay, Bayside, Bonnie View, Corpus Christi North Beach, Palm Harbor, Papalote, Copano Village, and Annaville.
Motorists on Interstate 37 between mile markers 6 and 13, US Highway 181 between mile markers 608 and 646, and US Highway 77 between mile markers 626 and 656 should be aware of these conditions. The Special Weather Statement is effective until 9:00 PM CDT tonight.
Torrential rainfall is accompanying these storms, which may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Monitor local weather updates and be alert for threatening conditions.
