The Rockledge Fire Department reminds residents about the critical importance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and offers local classes. Nearly 80 percent of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in homes, making bystander CPR a vital link in survival. Effective CPR provided immediately after a cardiac arrest can double a victim’s chance of survival by maintaining essential blood flow to the heart and brain. Without immediate intervention, brain death can begin within four to six minutes of cardiac arrest.
The department encourages all residents to learn CPR to potentially save a life. For more information on classes, residents can call the department's administrative office at 321-221-7540, extension 3501.
