Riviera Beach Youth Council Wins State Vaping Campaign Award
The Riviera Beach Youth Council won one of three statewide excellence awards from the Florida League of Cities for its anti-vaping campaign, the city announced April 21.
The Youth Council designed the campaign to educate young residents about vaping health risks and legal consequences tied to THC products. It partnered with Riviera Beach Police Chief, Palm Beach County School District, and Palm Beach County Behavioral Health Coalition to deliver posters in local schools, a Youth Town Hall, public service announcements, and social media videos targeting teens. A Youth Council member appeared in a local news segment that extended the campaign's reach beyond the city.
The Florida League of Cities recognizes youth council initiatives that create measurable impact in their municipalities. The council receives $500 and a trophy. Pembroke Pines Youth Advisory Board and West Park Youth Council also won awards this year.
