Riverview residents can tune into a special program on the local radio show “Morning Energy” this Friday, October 12, 2026, to explore the theme of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The segment, titled “Embracing Our Abilities,” will air from 4–6 a.m. and aims to celebrate the talents and contributions of individuals with disabilities in Hillsborough County.
Hosted by Renna, the program will feature inspirational stories and reflections on the importance of inclusion and understanding in the workplace and community. It encourages listeners to appreciate their own abilities and those of others. National Disability Employment Awareness Month, observed annually in October, serves to recognize the capabilities and achievements of people with disabilities and highlight the need to remove employment barriers. Approximately 16% of the global population experiences significant disability, according to the World Health Organization.
The program will also discuss the transformative power of perspective, referencing inspirational figures like Christopher Reeve. Reeve’s journey from actor to advocate after a paralyzing accident in 1995 serves as a reminder of life's unexpected changes and the resilience of the human spirit. Listeners can find the program in the archives for up to seven days following the live broadcast.
