Wind Advisory Issued for Parker Valley, Kofa, and Surrounding Areas
A Wind Advisory has been issued for Parker Valley, Kofa, and surrounding areas, warning of south winds up to 55 mph gusts from 2 AM MST /2 AM PDT/ to 5 PM MST /5 PM PDT/ on Sunday, October 10th, impacting driving conditions and potentially causing blowing dust.
Residents in Parker Valley, Kofa, Central La Paz, Southeast Yuma County, Gila River Valley, Chuckwalla Mountains, Imperial County Southeast, Palo Verde Valley, and Chuckwalla Valley should prepare for strong winds. A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Phoenix AZ, effective from 2 AM MST /2 AM PDT/ Sunday, October 10th, until 5 PM MST /5 PM PDT/ Sunday, October 10th.
South winds are expected to reach 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph. These conditions will create difficult driving conditions, particularly for larger vehicles traveling on roadways affected by crosswinds. Loose, unsecured objects outdoors may become airborne.
A Wind Advisory indicates that sustained wind speeds between 30 and 40 mph or wind gusts between 40 and 58 mph are anticipated. Strong winds in desert areas may temporarily reduce visibility to less than a mile due to blowing dust or sand. Motorists are advised to use extra caution when driving.
