Wind Advisory Issued for Chiriaco Summit: Gusts Up To 45 MPH Expected

A Wind Advisory has been issued for Chiriaco Summit from tonight until Friday afternoon, with gusts up to 45 mph expected, posing risks for drivers and potentially causing blowing dust.

Residents and travelers in Chiriaco Summit should prepare for a Wind Advisory, effective from 8 PM PDT this evening, October 15, until 2 PM PDT tomorrow, October 16. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Phoenix, AZ has issued this advisory, indicating expected north winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts potentially reaching 40 to 45 mph.

These conditions may lead to difficult driving, particularly for larger vehicles experiencing crosswinds. Unsecured light objects could become airborne. Additionally, localized channels of blowing dust may briefly reduce visibility to under one mile.

A Wind Advisory signifies sustained wind speeds between 30 and 40 mph, or wind gusts between 40 and 58 mph. The NWS advises extra caution, especially for high-profile vehicles. Strong winds in desert areas could also intermittently lower visibility to well under a mile due to blowing dust or sand.
