Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Inland Empire, Gusty Winds Expected
An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for the Inland Empire until October 8, with dangerously hot temperatures and gusty winds expected, increasing risks of heat-related illness and challenging driving conditions.
Residents of the San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys – The Inland Empire are advised to prepare for dangerously hot conditions and gusty winds, according to an Extreme Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA.
The Extreme Heat Warning is in effect from 12:25 PM PDT on October 2 until 8:00 PM PDT on October 8. High temperatures are expected to range from the upper 90s to 105 degrees Fahrenheit, with very warm nights seeing low temperatures in the lower to mid-70s. Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events.
Additionally, a Wind Advisory will be in effect from 6 AM to 6 PM PDT on Saturday. East winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected. These gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects, potentially causing tree limbs to fall and leading to isolated power outages. Driving may become difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
To protect yourselves and others, the NWS advises the following: Drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Crucially, do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in minutes. Use extra caution when driving during windy conditions.
