Richmond Gets $249K State Grant for Industrial Park Road
Richmond will use a $249,019 state grant to build an entrance road to Industrial Park IV from Duncannon Lane, connecting 190 acres of development-ready land to Interstate 75.
Gov. Andy Beshear announced Thursday that Richmond was among 12 communities selected for industrial site investments through Kentucky's Product Development Initiative. The city will match the state funding to design and construct the road. Utilities are already in place at the site.
"This new industrial park connects directly to I-75 via four-lane highway with all utilities needed for new industry," City Manager Rob Minerich said.
The award marks the third time Richmond has received support through the initiative, which provides funding to communities upgrading industrial sites to attract employers and create jobs. This round includes projects from the 2024 program and recaptured funds from 2022.
Brad Sowden, executive director of the Richmond Industrial Development Corporation, said speed matters in industrial recruitment. "Successful investments are those that can occupy land as quickly as possible," Sowden said. "Speed to production is key to creating jobs and opportunities for our community."
