Richmond to Build 6.7-Mile Mountain Bike Trail System
The Richmond Regional Sports Complex will build nearly seven miles of mountain bike trails after the Kentucky Mountain Bike Association Bluegrass Chapter secured a Trail Accelerator Grant from the International Mountain Bicycling Association.
IMBA Trail Solutions will design the Madison County Adventure Trails, known as MadCAT. The 6.7-mile system will include a race-ready loop meeting National Interscholastic Cycling Association standards, progressive riding features, and adaptive trail access.
The trails will host Kentucky Interscholastic Cycling League middle and high school mountain bike races and serve local riders, families, beginners, adaptive users, and advanced cyclists year-round.
The Kentucky Mountain Bike Association Bluegrass Chapter partnered with the City of Richmond and the sports complex to pursue the grant, positioning Richmond as a regional outdoor recreation destination. The volunteer nonprofit builds, maintains, and advocates for sustainable trails.
