The United States Postal Service offers an online appointment scheduling system for passport services. To schedule an appointment, customers must first complete and print their passport application form at https://pptform.state.gov. The appointment booking process involves four main steps: selecting a service type, searching by location or date, selecting an available time, and providing contact information for verification. Service options include: New Passport Only, New Passport with Photo Services, Passport Renewal, Digital Photo Services Only, and Hard Copy Photo Services Only. Customers can schedule appointments for up to 6 adults and up to 6 minors under 16 years old. The search function allows users to find appointments at the 5 closest Post Office locations within a specified radius (1 to 100 miles). Appointments can be searched up to 4 weeks in advance, with no appointments available on holidays. Each appointment takes approximately 15 minutes per person, and customers are requested to arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled time. Verification of identity is required through either text message or email. The system allows customers to modify appointments until a specified deadline, or cancel and reschedule if needed. Walk-in passport services are also available at select locations during designated hours. USPS charges apply for photo services, while the Department of State charges additional fees for passport books and cards. Digital photos taken through USPS comply with all US Department of State regulations. Customers ineligible for mail or online passport renewal can schedule in-person appointments for new passport services.
