The appointment booking process includes the following steps: Step 1: Choose a Service - Select service type: New Passport Only, New Passport with Photo Services, Passport Renewal, Digital Photo Services Only, or Hard Copy Photo Services Only - Specify number of adults and minors (under 16 years old) from 0-6 for each category Step 2: Search by Location or Date - Use Find USPS Locations to compare Post Offices providing passport services - Enter city and state or ZIP code with radius options (1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 40, 60, 80, or 100 miles) - Select preferred date up to 4 weeks from current date - Only 5 closest locations displayed; choose another location or date for additional options Step 3: Select a Time - Appointments take approximately 15 minutes per person - Arrive 10 minutes before scheduled appointment time - Appointment times reflect proper time zone of Passport Acceptance Facility Step 4: Provide Contact Information - Enter first name, last name, phone number, and email address - Select verification method: Text Message Verification or Email Verification - Agree to Terms and Conditions - Receive verification code to confirm identity and secure appointment Final Step: Review & Confirm Appointment Details - Review all information including service type, contact information, Post Office location, date, and time - Click 'Confirm Details' to schedule appointment - Receive final confirmation number Important Notes: - Complete and print passport application form before applying at https://pptform.state.gov - Passport Renewal appointments cannot be made online if eligible for mail or online renewal - Eligible applicants must renew by mail or online through State Department - Not eligible for online renewal must choose 'New Passport' service options - USPS Digital Photo Services available at many locations; photos comply with US Department of State regulations - Appointments not available on holidays - Post Office passport walk-in hours available as alternative - Department of State charges additional fees for Passport Books and/or Cards plus processing - Contact your wireless provider for data usage fees related to text message updates - Privacy Act Statement: Information used to schedule appointments and identify fraudulent transactions; collection authorized by 39 U.S.C. 401, 403, and 404; information not disclosed to third parties without consent except as legally required
